BUILDING A GLORIOUS HOME

Dear Reader,

I count it a great privilege to bring God’s Word your way in this wonderful column. By the Word of God, this glorious month, we will be enlightened on steps to Building A Glorious Home.

To start with, it is important that we know what to expect. ‘Building’ means the process of erecting/constructing by putting materials together systematically, to form a complete and functional whole. It also means establishing and setting up something, according to specifications and prescribed requirements.

‘Glorious’ means deserving great admiration, praise and honour. Is that the state of your home? This month, God is set to turn your home into praise and honour. Come along with me as we go through this powerful teaching. This week, I will be sharing with you on Building A Strong Foundation.

In Matthew 7, Jesus points out two possible foundations upon which one can build, either upon sand (by refusing to submit oneself to the Word of God) or upon a rock. The only sure foundation upon which to build a glorious home is the rock of the Word of God. Anything else, apart from the Word, is sand and no successful foundation can be built on it. There can be no successful family life without strict adherence to the dictates of God’s Word, as it relates to marriage and family life. God’s Word says: If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalm 3:11).

Take whatever God has said as absolute and final. 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that all scripture is given by the inspiration of God and is profitable! Bishop David O. Oyedepo said, “When you uphold the Word of God in any area of life, you become a star in that area.”

Everything about the Christian home must be built upon the foundation of God’s Word – husband/wife relationship, child training, relationship with in-laws etc. God’s Word also tells us in I Corinthians 3:11 that: For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Just as you cannot build any lasting, glorious home on a weak or faulty foundation in the natural, in the same way, you cannot have a glorious building upon a wrong foundation.

‘Building a glorious home’ means consciously developing a family relationship that is a reflection of God’s original intent for mankind, as revealed in His Word. The picture we see in God’s Word, as He instituted marriage is that of a rewarding, fulfilling, enjoyable and mutually beneficial relationship, in which the two parties function in His counsel.

In building a glorious home, the very first place to begin is the man and woman as individuals – their personal relationship with God, the Author of marriage. The husband and wife must have a living, personal relationship with God as individuals, apart from each other. It is the quality and strength of this relationship that will provide an invaluable resource, from which they will draw in times of temptation and impending crisis.

Without a deep relationship with God, their deepest yearnings will not be met, as only God is the Source of true, lasting contentment, not a spouse! When these deep yearnings are unfulfilled, there is a tendency to misinterpret this and lash out at one’s spouse, thereby setting the stage for imminent crisis.

Also, a strong fervent relationship with God creates the deepest capacity for agape love. The Word of God says: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us (Romans 5: 5). The kind of love that sustains a marriage can only be found in God, Himself, and only a close walk with Him can guarantee a flow of the same virtue.

By nature, a man or a woman is a rebel against God. Romans 8:7 makes it clear that the natural man is not and cannot be subject to the will of God. Until one is subject to God via a strong personal relationship with Him, his/her flesh will continually kick against God’s laid down directives in His Word concerning the family and other aspects of life. The standards of the Word of God, with respect to marriage and the family, will be practically impossible to attain in the energy of the flesh, without the enabling power of God through the Holy Spirit.

Do you desire this enabling power of God in your life? Then you need to say “yes” to Jesus, by surrendering your life to Him. This is done by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Saviour and Lord. If you are ready for this new birth experience, please say this prayer:

“Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the living God. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.”

If you prayed this simple prayer, you are now a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

Congratulations! You are now born again! All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you, in Jesus’ Name. Call or write, and share your testimonies with me through contact@faithoyedepo.org; OR (+234)7026385437 and (+234)8141320204.

MARRIAGE: A LIFETIME COVENANT

Dear Reader,
I welcome you to this month’s teaching. I want you to be rest assured that God is going to visit you this month. This month, I shall be discussing on Marriage as a Lifetime Covenant.

Today, I want to start by looking at the origin of marriage. In Genesis 2:18-25, we see God initiating the idea of male and female relationship, in which both will serve as succour to each other. The purpose of God in marriage is to create a help that is suitable, adaptable and complementary, to establish unity and for procreation.
What is Marriage?

Marriage is a union between one man and one woman. It is coming together of two people of opposite sex, with a view to building a God-centred home. Marriage is not the culture of any country of the world, rather it is heaven’s culture. Marriage is God’s idea, not man’s idea. The Word of God says: And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof. And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man (Genesis 2:21-22).

God in His infinite wisdom knew that man would have some needs and desires to satisfy, which cannot be satisfied by animals and other things He created. So, He brought out the idea of marriage, and formed a helpmeet for man.
It is important for us to know that in the beginning of the institution called marriage, God did not introduce marriage between people of the same sex, but between a man and woman. People of the world have perverted what God Himself has formed for man and his wife to enjoy. In the beginning, it was not so. Homosexualism is really growing fast in various countries of the world today. God’s rule has been laid down concerning this abominable thing. The Word of God says: Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination (Leviticus 18:22).

Scripturally, marriage is for a lifetime. It is, therefore, not to be entered into without knowing what you are going into. It is very important for you to know what marriage is and is not, before you say, “I do” to anyone. You need to hear the testimony of this sister.
“When I was ready for marriage, I noticed that some things were working against me. But I was not a serious Christian then. However, when I dedicated my life fully to Jesus Christ in 1992, it became obvious. But I lacked wisdom and counsel and I was emotionally immature.
All the same, I got married, and the Lord has been merciful. But on joining this church, through the different ministrations, my life and marriage acquired meaning and direction. Now my marriage is established and I am free from all manner of oppressions of the wicked.
My family has been increased remarkably and I now apply myself to the wisdom of God that He has imparted to me by reason of the teachings and ministrations I get here!”
Opara, C. C. N.

God ordained marriage for man and woman to give and receive satisfaction and to meet the needs and desires of one another. This marriage relationship is very unique since it involves the spirit, soul and body of two individuals. As long as the couples are born again and their lives have been transformed, they now become new creatures and therefore belong to the same spiritual Kingdom.
Our father, Abraham knew the importance of this and he told his servant to go to his people and get a wife for his son. The Word of God says: And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh. And I will make thee swear by the Lord, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell (Genesis 24:2-3).

In the realm of the soul, both husband and wife should have the same mind concerning issues of life, especially the way they live, as regards the doctrines of the Holy Bible. There must be an agreement between the couple, before they can really walk in the principles of the Bible. The Bible advises: Can two walk together, except they be agreed? (Amos 3:3).
It is important therefore, for us to know that there is no agreement between light and darkness. So, as a believer in Christ that is regenerated, you are not permitted to even consider an unbeliever for marriage. The Word of God says: Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people (2 Corinthians 6:14-16).
To have a good marriage and a successful family, you need to first have a good stand with God. To do that, you need to confess your sins and surrender your life to Him. Do you want to do so now? Say this prayer in faith:

Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today as a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose on the third day. Forgive me of my sins. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today.

The Secrets of Family Increase

Dear Reader,
Happy Prosperous New Year! You are welcome to this exciting moment in God’s presence on Family Success, in Jesus’ Precious Name!
2014 is gone, a new year has just began for you. You shall never have a better last year in Jesus name! The Word of God says: Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold! I will do a new thing (Isaiah 43:18-19).
Forget about all your past failure, your past prayerlessness, weakness and spiritual laziness, etc. This New Year, God is set to do new things in your life and family; the new things of God will not pass you by.

Do you know that there is a life of increase in God? I am talking about increase in every area of your life and family – home, finances, business. Are you longing to experience this in your family life? Then come along with me as we delve into the Word of God this new month, which is the first month in our year of Heaven on Earth. May the Lord give you quick understanding.
This week, we will be looking at The Source of Increase. Our God is a God of increase, and He delights in your increase. Increase is making positive progress, to satisfaction. It means where you were yesterday is not where you are supposed to be today. It means you are assessing yourself, your family life, your finances; they are all moving forward. I see you moving forward in every area of your life today, in Jesus’ name!

There was a time that God told Moses to tell the children of Israel to go forward, not to mark time on a spot. Beloved, are you going forward in your family life? Are you making satisfactory progress in your finances? Is the Word of God having positive effect in your family?
Any genuine increase, however, only comes from God. God’s Word says: I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase (1 Corinthians. 3:6). For your increase to last and be peaceful, it must come from God. Until God becomes your source of increase in your health, finances, relationships, etc, that increase will be short-lived. Don’t be deceived by forbidden shortcuts. For instance, if you want increase in the area of good health for your family members, let no one deceive you to begin to look for one herbalist or the other around the corner. They have nothing to offer. Make God the source of your health. Let Him be your Jehovah-Rapha.
Anything God cannot handle, forget it, no man can. In your finances, they may tell you there is one money doubler somewhere and one get-rich-quick magician. Never listen to them; it is a trap in disguise. Even if such money comes, it flies off immediately. It is characterised by many sorrows and pains. God’s Word says: The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it (Proverbs 10:22).
It is only the blessings of God that make rich without additional sorrow. In your place of work, never seek abundance by giving or receiving bribe. Don’t alter figures to favour your pocket. That’s not the way to long-lasting peaceful increase. Let God bless you and everyone you shall see it. When God is the source of your increase, He backs it up, and the increase will stand the test of time.
Look at this testimony:
“God increased my salary, and made sure it was paid, unlike the salary increase announced by the Federal Government, which some workers in the country are yet to enjoy. You need to know about my financial background, to appreciate what the Lord has done for me.
I am a civil servant on Grade Level 07, earning less than two thousand naira as my take-home pay every month. With a family of five, it became compulsory for me to borrow money in order to survive every month. In fact, I was indebted to the tune of 35,000 naira. As a professional, I tried everything to get a better job, but all my efforts proved abortive. Today, I give God all the glory, because He has changed my financial status from a borrower to a giver, not just a lender! He blessed me and has made me a blessing to others.
As soon as I responded to all the teachings and divine instructions from this altar and the Bible, things turned around for me financially! I discovered through the help of the Holy Spirit that as a civil servant, it is possible for me to prosper, even as a driver. But He gave me a strong warning to do away with pride. Also, I prayed to God on behalf of my boss in the office, and God answered my prayer. He promoted my boss, and by his promotion, I was also automatically promoted. God has changed me from a civil servant to a ‘civil lord,’ because it is what I command that happens in my office now! I am now pleased and contended with my job.” – A, O.
Abundance is a covenant and covenant is a binding agreement usually between two people. In the case of abundance (Increase), it is a covenant between God and man (Deuteronomy 8:18). Furthermore, in a covenant, there are personal responsibilities, which must be fulfilled on the part of the two people involved.
To have access to increase, you must be connected to God, the source of increase. This is done by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Saviour and Lord. If you are ready for this new birth experience, please say this prayer:

Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Now I know I am born again!

Call or write, and share your testimonies with me through contact@faithoyedepo.org, and conselling@faithoyedepo.org; OR +2347026385437 and +2348141320204.
